Megan Lunsford

Hand-set type, ink, and the slow art of letterpress
Megan Lunsford is a traditional printer and culture bearer from Mountain View, Arkansas, dedicated to preserving the art of letterpress printing. Working at the historic Old Time Print Shop at the Ozark Folk Center State Park, she helps carry forward a centuries-old craft that once served as the primary means of sharing news, stories, music, and community history.
Through hands-on work with antique presses, hand-set type, and traditional printing techniques, Lunsford is helping ensure that this important material tradition remains a living practice rather than a forgotten technology. As an apprentice to master printer Troy Odom through the Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts apprenticeship program, she is part of a new generation of tradition bearers stewarding Arkansas’s rich cultural heritage.
Her work demonstrates that folk traditions are not relics of the past, but vibrant skills that continue to connect people to craftsmanship, storytelling, and the power of creating something by hand. In preserving the art of letterpress printing, Lunsford keeps alive a practice that has shaped communities for generations.
