Clarke Buehling

Banjo Treasure Hunter
One of the foremost exponents of the nineteenth century banjo, Clarke Buehling has made numerous and significant contributions to the revival, preservation, and performance of the minstrel and classic era repertoire of the five string banjo. He has been playing, researching, and teaching the instrument for over 30 years.
Buehling currently plays with the Carousel Orchestra and the Ozark Highballers, tours solo across the United States and Europe, and is widely recognized for his repertoire and banjo instrumentals. In 2023 he served as a Master Artist in the Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.
He founded the American Banjo Fraternity Orchestra and has taught generations of banjo students at the Ozark Folk Center, Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music, and the folk school of KDHX in St. Louis. He resides in Fayetteville.
