Banjo on Board: A Rolling Ride with Clarke Buehling

Hop aboard for one of the most unique experiences of the Arkansas Folklife Festival: a 40-minute trolley journey through music, history, and laughter with Clarke Buehling.
As the River Rail streetcar rolls from downtown North Little Rock across the Arkansas River into downtown Little Rock and back again, Clarke will fill the ride with old-time banjo tunes, fascinating stories, unexpected history, and more than a few laughs. A master musician, folklorist, and storyteller, Clarke has a gift for making the past feel alive, and for proving that history can be downright entertaining.
Along the way, passengers will discover the banjo’s remarkable journey from its African origins to its place in the folk traditions of Arkansas and the Ozarks, while enjoying the sights of two downtowns connected by river, rail, and story.
Part concert, part history lesson, part comedy show, and entirely unforgettable, this rolling folklife experience reminds us that some of the best Arkansas stories happen when we’re traveling together.
Grab a seat, hold on to your hat, and prepare for a banjo ride that’s equal parts education, entertainment, and adventure.
