Meredith Martin-Moats

Re/weaving connections across generations in the Arkansas River Valley.
Meredith Martin-Moats works at the intersection of place, history, and caregiving. Her work focuses on rural Arkansas communities, vernacular architecture, foodways, and community-centered cultural stewardship, with particular attention to the Arkansas River Valley.
Martin-Moats holds an M.A. in Folk Studies from Western Kentucky University and is the cofounder of the McElroy House: Organization for Cultural Resources in Dardanelle. She has produced radio stories, oral histories, and community-based projects that center the voices and traditions of rural Arkansas people.
At the Arkansas Folklife Festival, Martin-Moats appears in conversation with Pat Johnson on the Common Threads Stage to discuss the slow, generational practice of building community traditions across very different Arkansas places.
