Danny Dozier

Forty years of thumbpicking, fingerstyle, and Ozark guitar mastery.
Danny Dozier is a legendary guitarist in the state of Arkansas, known for the depth and range of his style and the breadth of his repertoire. A two-time winner of the Merle Travis Fingerstyle Guitar Championship at the Ozark Folk Center, he is widely regarded as one of the finest thumbpicking guitarists in the Ozarks. He fronts the Danny Dozier Band at gigs across the state and the country, and has long been a fixture of the Ozark Folk Center music scene, performing in countless configurations over the years.
Dozier is a longtime member of The Leatherwoods, the Mountain View-based traditional Ozark string band led by Pam Setser, where his guitar and mandolin work helps anchor the group’s signature sound. He has collaborated extensively with fiddler Tim Crouch, including a duo recording, and has appeared on Keith Symanowitz’s Ozark Folks album recorded live at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. At the Arkansas Folklife Festival, Dozier joins Pam Setser and Tim Crouch on the People’s Stage to bring decades of Ozark musical tradition to a new generation of listeners.
