Common Threads: A Community Weaving Project
Help create a work of art that tells the story of Arkansas, one thread at a time. Common Threads invites festival-goers to contribute to a large 5′x6′ community weaving structure using reclaimed fabrics representing memories, families, traditions, and experiences from across generations.
Throughout the festival, participants of all ages are encouraged to add a strip of fabric to the loom, transforming individual contributions into a collective artwork that reflects the diversity, resilience, and creativity of Arkansas communities. Made from reclaimed and repurposed materials, the weaving honors traditions of thrift, stewardship, and making beauty from what we have.
As the structure grows over the course of the festival, it becomes a living expression of connection, demonstrating how individual stories, cultures, and experiences are woven together to create something stronger and more beautiful than any one strand alone.
By the festival’s end, the completed weaving will stand as a powerful reminder that Arkansas culture is not a single story, but a tapestry created by many hands across generations.
