Classical Indian Dance with Sangamitra Reshmy

Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest classical dance traditions in the world, a South Indian art form that uses rhythm, expression, hand gestures, and storytelling to bring narratives from millennia of Indian culture into physical form.

For this performance, Guru Anupriya Krishnan and her apprentice Sangamitra Reshmy take the festival stage. Anupriya is an accomplished Bharatanatyam artist with over three decades of experience, trained under Padmabhushan Shobana Chandrakumar. She holds a Master’s in Bharatanatyam from Tamil University, Tanjore, and a diploma in Nattuvangam under Dr. Guru Bharadwaj. Alongside her artistic journey, she holds a double Master’s in Engineering and works at Wright State University.

Sangu Reshmy graduated from Bentonville West High School with the Class of 2026 and will attend the University of Arkansas this fall. She has been practicing Bharatanatyam for over 10 years under Guru Krishnan, has performed across Ohio, Arkansas, and on international virtual stages, and is currently pursuing her Junior Diploma. She also volunteers at the Bentonville Public Library, where she serves on the Teen Advisory Board.
